Abstract :
this study aims to understand how the characters in the film adapt to the difficult environment
and how the hierarchy of human needs is reflected in the behavior and social interaction in this
movie.In an analysis of the film with adaptation theory, it was found that the main characters, like
goreng, face complex adaptation challenges within the vertical prison institution.As stated in the
previous chapter, the theories that are applied for this research includes intrinsic and extrinsic
approaches. The intrinsic approaches include characterization of the characters through telling and
showing methods. analysis of plot and setting. The extrinsic approach that is applied consists of
Psychology approaches , namely Adaptation.In the intrinsic approach focuses on characterization,
plot, and setting. The extrinsic approach is focused outside the text such as, feminist perspective.
The results of this research understanding of the interrelationships between adaptation theory,
hierarchical needs, and psychology of literature in the context of visual literary works.This analysis
also contains a social message that wants to be conveyed through this movie is a criticism of social
inequality, unfair economic system, and the challenges of adaptation in a harsh environment.the use
of adaptation theory and the need for hierarchy in analyzing the movie "The Platform" and
conveying the social messages contained in it.For the extrinsic approach, I use adaptation theory by
bannet . He stated,the adjustment mechanism used by humans throughout their lives.
