Abstract :
This study aims to analyze the application of genetic structuralism theory in the movie script of The
Lion King (2019). The theory of genetic structuralism is an approach that studies the relationship
between text and social context in the process of production and interpretation of works of art. This
study focuses on genetic analysis in the movie script of The Lion King (2019) with the aim of
understanding narrative structure, story patterns, and the themes contained therein. This research
uses a type of qualitative research, interpretive analysis with data collection methods in the form of
the movie script of The Lion King (2019) as a primary source and is supported by some literature
related to relevant theories, concepts and definitions as secondary sources. After analyzing the movie
script for The Lion King (2019) through an intrinsic approach consisting of characterizations, plot,
setting, then it is described by extrinsic analysis using the theory of genetic structuralism. The results
of this research are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the application of genetic
structuralism theory in the movie script of The Lion King (2019) and how this influences the social
messages to be conveyed. In addition, this research also contributes to an understanding of the
analysis of modern works of art using a genetic structuralism approach.
