Abstract :
This study aims to analyze the movie script using an intrinsic approach and an
extrinsic approach. The intrinsic approach used to analyze this movie script are
characterization, plot, setting, and theme. Meanwhile, the extrinsic approach used to
analyze this movie script are the concept of Alzheimer and the concept of struggle.
This research was conducted using a qualitative method, because the results of the
data analyzed are in the form of characterization, plot, setting, theme, as well as the
concept of Alzheimer and the concept of struggle. The research object in this study is
the movie script Still Alice written by Richard Glatzer & Wash Westmoreland, and
published in 2014. The research data in this study is collected from several texts in
the movie script Still Alice as the main source and supported by several books,
journals, previous research, web pages, and electronic sources related to the topic of
discussion as secondary sources. The results of this study explain the intrinsic
elements, namely characterization, plot, setting, and theme. Meanwhile, the extrinsic
elements, namely the concept of Alzheimer and the concept of struggle, and the
relationship of the two concepts with the existing intrinsic elements. This study
found the Alzheimer and the struggle experienced by the character Alice Howland in
the movie script Still Alice, and how her illness affects her life and her career in the
present which causes psychological problems.
