Abstract :
This research aims to analyze the postcolonialism portrayed in the story of War for the Planet of the Apes through its intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approach used in this research is characterization, plot, and setting analysis. The extrinsic approach used in this research is the concept of postcolonialism by Frantz Fanon and Homi K. Bhabha. This research uses qualitative approach in revealing data. The object of this research is the War for the Planet of the Apes movie script written by Matt Reeves and Mark Bomback. The result of this research is as follow, the elaboration between plot, characterization and setting with postcolonialism through the perspective of colonized and colonizer, the elaboration between plot, characterization and setting with mimicry and hybridity, and the elaboration between plot, character and setting with reconstruction of identity. Based on this research, the movie script of War for the Planet of the Apes represents postcolonialism through the plot, character and characterization, and setting.
