Abstract :
This study aims to determine the classification of illocutionary acts and to understand the meaning
of utterances between speakers and listeners using Sarle's theory of illocutionary classification in the
speech of the main character, Luca, in the script for the movie "Luca" (2021). This research was
conducted using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. I collect data from movie scripts and then
analyze it based on the theory given. The data was analyzed one at a time to determine the
classification and what was most prevalent in illocutionary acts. From the 35 data, there are four
classifications of illocutionary acts used by the main character in the Luca (2021) movie script. 14 of
the data are representative. 11 of the data are directive. 6 of the data is commissive, and 4 of the data
are expressive. There are 4 types of illocutionary acts that occur in the "Luca" (2021) movie script.
Based on the analysis that has been done, the most dominant types of illocutionary acts in this study
is representative, because Luca states the truth. Luca is responsible for his utterance, which is a fact
that can be proven on the grounds that Luca is a good boy who never breaks the rules of his parents.
