Abstract :
In this study, an analysis was conducted to Octpath fans or commonly called THme
in Japan regarding the enthusiasm of one of the Octpath members from Indonesia
named Toma. Toma's popularity is not solely known as a singer, but Toma is also
popular as a Japanese idol who often has a big influence on the introduction of
Indonesian culture, especially introducing Indonesian to Japanese people through a
television program named Produce 101 Japan Season 2. The purpose of this
research is to see how Toma's influence in promoting Indonesian culture to his fans
and seeing how interested Octpath fans are in Indonesian. The research used in this
research is descriptive qualitative by collecting questionnaire data and interviews
from Japanese THme on Twitter social media. The result shows that the majority
of THme are interested in learning Indonesian even though they only have mastered
basic Indonesian.
