Abstract :
Parents, particularly mothers, play a crucial role in fostering a child's sense of security, love, and
emotional wellbeing. They significantly influence a child's feelings of being cherished or neglected,
secure or insecure from an early age. Ashley Audrain, The Push novel (2021) contains the story of
a daughter who has an abusive behaviour but only her mother can feel this. This term-paper discusses
about emotional abuse especially aggression and gaslighting theory by Dr. Theresa J. Covert (2020)
that happened to victim mother from her daughter in the novel. The concepts include two
approaches, intrinsic and extrinsic, are applied to analyze this novel. In this research, The Push novel
is the primary sources and also supported by some relevant theories, definitions, and concepts which
as secondary sources. The result of this finding is a reflection of a daughter acting out aggression
and gaslighting especially towards her own mother.
