Abstract :
This study aims to analyze several utterances and to find out the subtitling strategies found in the movie script of ?Free Guy (2021)? based on Gottlieb?s theory. The research used the descriptive qualitative method to collect the data analysis without generalizing. The result of this research shows that the number of subtitling strategies found in ?Free Guy (2021)? movie script is 116 data. The result of this research showed that there are 49 data on transfer strategy, 39 data on condensation strategy, 20 data on paraphrase strategy, 5 data on expansion strategy, 2 data on deletion strategy, and 1 datum on decimation strategy. There are many subtitles that are literally translated accurately by the translator. Therefore, all these to explain and find out the most used Gottlieb?s subtitling strategy found in Free Guy (2021) movie script from English to Indonesian language. The most used Gottlieb?s subtitling strategy is transfer with 49 data out of 116. And the least is the decimation strategy with 1 datum out of 116.
