Abstract :
This study aims to analyze the figurative language used on the song lyrics of Billie Eilish in the album
?Happier Than Ever?. This study used Keraf?s theory about figurative language. The research approach of
this study was qualitative approach, and the method of the research is descriptive qualitative because this
study is analyzing about an issue in the song lyrics of Billie Eilish?s album ?Happier than Ever?. The result
of this study is, there are 31 song lyrics which contain the 6 types of figurative language. In Idiom there are
9 song lyrics, in Irony there are 6 song lyrics, in Metaphor there are 6 song lyrics, in Hyperbole there are 2
song lyrics, in Personification there are 5 song lyrics, and in Simile there are 3 song lyric. And the dominant
types of figurative language used in the song lyrics is idiom. The used of figurative language in the album
?Happier Than Ever? is to make the song lyrics meaningful, and as the song writer, Eilish does not want to
directly convey the true meaning of the song lyrics. This album contains 16 songs and the songs is mostly
talking about her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend, her life as a famous singer and artist, hopes for
her future, and hopes for her next relationship.
