Abstract :
This study aims to find out the subtitle strategies found in every scene of the movie script that has been translated in Black Panther movie script, then classify them into subtitling strategies. The unit of analysis of this research is every utterance which has one subtitling strategy and is classified into eight subtitling strategies found in Black Panther movie script. The research used qualitative descriptive method because that describes data as it is explaining data or events with qualitative explanatory sentences. The results show that the number of the subtitling strategies which are found in Black Panther (2018) movie script are in 94 data, they are paraphrase, transfer, imitation, transcription, condensation, decimation, deletion, and resignation. Paraphrase reached 23 data, transfer gets 14 data, imitation reached 19 data, transcription reached 1 data, condensation gets 15 data, decimation gets 7 data, deletion reached 12 data, and the last strategy is resignation, which gets 3 data. The most frequently strategy used in Black Panther movie script is paraphrase with 23 data out of 94. And for the least used strategies based on the data above, namely transcription, with 1 datum from 94. Thus, the readers can more easily understand better the meaning of the text.
