Abstract :
This study is aims to analyze narcissism using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through intrinsic approach, characterization, plot, settings, and theme are used to analyze the study. The concept of narcissism is used to analyze the study in extrinsic approach. This research is conducted by using content analysis qualitative method because the result of the study is analyzed through words such as text through dialogues and narrative text. The object of the research is ?the joker? movie script by Todd Phillips and Scott silver. The study collected data through movie script. The result of this study as follows. The reflection of narcissism that is being found in Arthur?s fleck characterization, plot such as exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution as well as narcissism in the settings particularly setting as background of action and finally the theme that can be taken from the study. The reflection of the joker by Todd Phillips and Scott silver is telling us that when there is someone who suffers mental illness in this case is narcissism, people should never treat them badly. Narcissism is also a mental illness that has to be treated seriously. People who do not treat them seriously will become sadistic in the future.
