Abstract :
This paper discusses the theme of literary works by analyzing intrinsic and extrinsic approaches of a novel. Through the intrinsic approaches, the applied concepts are characterization, setting, and plot. And through extrinsic approaches the applied concept are Multiple Personality disorder and Sadistic Personality Disorder. This study is the variety of qualitative research, types of literature research, nature interpretive I analytical methods of data collection in the form of literary texts from the novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde novel By Robert Louis Stevenson as the primary source and supported by some literary concepts and definitions that are relevant as the secondary source.
