Abstract :
This term paper discusses about the theme of a literary work, a novel. The analyzed problem is the concept of love and conflict on character Mel Haningan. It is analyzed by using the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through the intrinsic approaches are applied concepts: point of view ,first person participant,characterization, setting, and plot. Through the extrinsic approach are psycology litrature consist Conflict by Medison conty and Love by RJ Stemberg. This study discusses Conflict and love in the main character Mel Haningan This study is the variety of qualitative research, types of library research, interpretative analysis using the method of data collection in the form of literary texts from the novel A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful Lindstrom?s as a primary source and supported by some of the literatures to relate the theory, concept and the relevant definition as a secondary source. Keywords: literary and psychological approach, psychoanalysis, conflict, and love, main character. Skripsi ini membahas tentang tema karya sastra novel dengan menggunakan pendekatan intrinsik dan ekstrinsik. Melalui pendekatan intrinsik diterapkan konsep: sudut pandang, akuan maha tahu, Karakterisasi, Latar, dan Alur. Melalui pendekatan ekstrinsik adalah psikologi sastra mengandung Konflik oleh Chaplin J.P dan cinta oleh RJ Stemberg Penelitian ini membahas tentang Konflict dan cinta dalam karater utama Mel Haningan. Penelitian ini adalah berbagai penelitian kualitatif, jenis penelitian kepustakaan, interpretatif analisis dengan menggunakan metode pengumpulan data berupa teks sastra dari novel A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful Lindstrom?ssebagai sumber utama dan didukung oleh beberapa literatur untuk menghubungkan teori, konsep dan definisi yang relevan sebagai sumber sekunder. Kata kunci: Karakterisasi, Latar, Alur, Konflik, dan Cinta.
