Abstract :
This study aims to determine the difficulty of speaking in English by seventh grade students at SMP GKST 1 Tentena, and this study aims to determine the factors of difficulty experienced by students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and the subject of this research is seventh grade students at SMP GKST 1 Tentena. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. From the results of observations and interviews, students have difficulty in speaking English and the difficulties consist of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, anxiety, stammering, mother tongue, and low participation.
