Abstract :
This study aims to determine the lexical cohesion device contained in the text of English Paragraph Writing class students. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The theory that used in analyzing the data is the theory proposed by Halliday and Hasan (1976) about Cohesion in English. The source of the data in this research is the descriptive text produced by English Paragraph Writing class students. The data collection technique in this research is the documentation of students? descriptive text. The result of this study shows that the lexical cohesion devices found are Repetition, Synonymy, Hyponymy, General Word, and Collocation. The dominant lexical device found is Repetition.
