Abstract :
This research aimed to determine the ability of eighth grade students? in writing descriptive text at Mts Pondok Pesantren Islam Amanah Putri. The method uses in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research are eighth grade students with a total of 23 students. Data collection is done through test. Researcher analyses the data by using a descriptive text assessment rubric. The researcher only focus on the three aspects, namely content, organization, and mechanics. The findings show that the ability of students in writing descriptive text is poor (the score is 51-60). It can be seen from the result of students? writing on descriptive text, the total average score is 55,04. Therefore, it can be concluded that the eight grade students? ability at Mts Pondok Pesantren Islam Amanah Putri in writing descriptive text in English is poor.
