Abstract :
This research aims to compare the plant identification abilities of students using conventional techniques and the plant identification abilities of students using an android-plant identification application in biology learning at senior high school. Respondents in this research were 70 students from SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang. Design in this research was one group pretest-posttest design using nonequivalent dependent variable. Data analysis used independent sample t-test. Before carrying out the independent sample t-test, the things that must be done first are the normality test and homogeneity test. Independent sample t-test analysis shows the sig. 0,00(<0,05) that there is a significant difference in improving students ability to identify plants, where the experimental class using an android-based application has a better improvement than the control class using a determination key. So it can be conclude that the ability to identify plants using an android-based plant identification application in experimental class is higher than the ability to identify student plants using a determination key in the control class
