Abstract :
Independent Curriculum has been implementing in all level of schools in Indonesia. It is designed to develop learning based on the interests and talents of students. It enhances students to level up their awareness on Pancasila traits. The Independent Curriculum has just been launched in 2022 so it still takes time and process to implement it. This research is intended to analyze the challenges and strategies found by English teachers in implementing the independent curriculum in vocational high schools. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The results reveals that every English teacher has different challenges and strategies in implementing the independent curriculum. The challenge in implementing the independent curriculum is the readiness of students to accept learning. The results of the interview stated that the dominant students came from the mechanics major, it would be difficult for them to actively accept learning and adapt in the classroom. The teacher's strategy is to use electronic media, choose materials that are always upgrading and learning is interesting, always distinguish learning from other classes and of course always improve communication with students
