Abstract :
This study was aimed to find out the types of Code Switching and Code Mixing that Used in Narrative Story during speaking class in the classroom, and also to indicate the benefits of Code Switching and Code Mixing in classroom activity. The research design used descriptive qualitative research. The place that is used to conduct this research is the eleventh grade of SMA Plus Al-Amanah, and also two English Teachers. Observation, Recordings, and also interview were used as the instruments used as the instruments in collecting data. From the data obtained, the types of Code Switching are Inter-Sentential Switching, Intra-Sentential Switching, and Tag Switching, and also the types of Code Mixing is Insertion, Alternation and Congruent Lexicalization, and the types that is more often used in Classroom activity is Tag Switching and Insertion. Besides that, the researcher also find some benefits of using Code Switching and Code Mixing in the classroom activity, they are to give more understanding of the material for the students, to share some new vocabularies and also practiced the pronunciation. At least, the researcher suggest to the teacher to the English teacher to use Code Switching and Code Mixing in teaching and learning process in the classroom activity because it more effective than only using one language.
