Abstract :
Movies are commonly used as a media for viewers to learn about grammatical and English language features, particularly slang words. In Khoshniyat and Dowlatabadi's research shows that using English movies can improve EFL learners' English skills with an extensive vocabulary list, one of which is slang words. Therefore, the use of slang words in English movies can improve the English language skills of EFL learners. This research aims to analyzing the slang words found in the Wednesday 2022 movie series to find the type and meaning of the slang words used in Wednesday series movie 2022. This research used qualitative method based on miles and huberman theory with content analysis approach and the data taken from slang word uttered by the actors/actrees in Wednesday series movie 2022. From the findings it was found there are 4 types of slang word found in Wednesday series movie 2022, 6 chapter out of 8 there are coinage slang,blending slang,acronym slang and clipping slang, The most used slang words in Wednesday movie 2022 series in chapter 1 to 6 out of 8 are coinage slang and the least is acronym slang and clipping slang.The researcher realized that these words are slang words found in the Wednesday Series movies by watching 6 out of 8 movies in detail and analyzing the words by trying to find the meaning and the type then the researcher settled on the words as slang words. In addition, it has also been explained what the true meaning of the slang word is based on the slang definition.
