Abstract :
The English Day program is one of the programs at Mts Sains Qur'an Ar-Ridwan which allows students to speak English outside of class on certain days in more flexible conditions with their friends. This research aims to determine students' perceptions of the implementation of the direct method in the English Day program and to find out the weaknesses and strengths in the implementation of the direct method in the English Day program on their speaking skills. The design of this research is descriptive research with a survey approach. This research used a total of 5 students in grades 7-9 as participants. The instruments used to obtain data were observation and interviews. Researchers used descriptive analysis to analyze the data. The results of students' perceptions of the implementation direct method in the English Day program include the majority of students have a positive perception. Most of them were enthusiastic about the presence of the English Day Program itself, The Students are motivated to Learn English. In addition, the students have high motivation and hope that the English Day Program will facilitate them to develop their English speaking skills. Even though they have several challenges, strengths, and weaknesses in implementing the direct method in the English Day program, they still try to follow the program enthusiastically.
