Abstract :
Research on the Characteristics of Avocado Seed Oil (Persea americana) from Soe, East Tegah Selatan District has been conducted as an Alternative Fuel. This study aims to determine the yield, yield and characteristics of avocado seed oil from Soe, East Tegah Selatan District as an alternative fuel source. The method used in this research is continuous extraction or Soxhletation. Extraction was carried out on 200 grams of avocado seed sample powder using nhexane solvent. The extracted oil is purified through a degguming and neutralization process to separate fatty acids and phosphides or other impurities. Tests conducted in this study in the form of oil content, physical and chemical properties of avocado seed oil. The results obtained are 10.20% oil content, physical properties of pure orange clear oil and 0.04% water content. Chemical properties such as: free fatty acids obtained in the amount of 0.004 - 0.007%, and the acid number of 3.3996 mg KOH / g of oil. Pure avocado seed oil from Soe, South East Central District can be used as an alternative ingredient.
