Abstract :
This study aims to describe 1) mathematical reasoning of junior high school students with high mathematical abilities in problem solving of set material, 2) mathematical reasoning of junior high school students with low ability in solving set material problems. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were selected from students of class VII A SMPK St. Agustinus Adisucipto Penfui Kupang in the odd semester knows the 2018-1919 lesson. Subjects in this study were two subjects namely subjects for each category of mathematical abilities. The data of this study are in the form of students' mathematical reasoning in solving problem set material. Data is obtained from the process of solving the problem solving tasks that students do. This research instrument is a researcher as the main instrument and problem solving tasks as a supporting instrument. To collect data in this study researchers gave problem solving tasks involving the interview process. Data analysis techniques in this research include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that 1) students with high mathematical abilities, able to complete the six indicators, 2) students with low mathematical abilities, are only able to complete three of the six indicators.
