Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to describe the influence of mathematical communication ability on the achievement of learning mathematics, independence of learning toward mathematics learning achievement, and to know the ability of mathematical communication and independence of learning to student learning achievement of SMPK St. Yoseph Naikoten 2 Kupang academic year 2017/2018 material equations and linear inequality one variable. The method used by researchers in conducting this research is survey method. The population in this study is the entire class VII SMPK St. Yoseph Naikoten 2 Kupang academic year 2017/2018 which amounts to 5 classes. The sample in this research is one class of all students of class VII taken at random by using simple random sampling technique. Instrument for collecting data in this research is essay test consisting of 5 items for mathematical communication skill, questionnaire consists of 20 items, and mathematics learning achievement test consisting of 20 items. Data analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis. Based on multiple regression analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of mathematical communication ability on mathematics learning achievement. There is no significant influence of learning independence on mathematics learning achievement. There is a significant influence of mathematical communication ability and learning independence on mathematics learning achievement.
