Abstract :
This study aims to describe and analyze Pasola Cultural Conflict Resolution (Study of Pasola Culture in Lamboya District, West Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province). The theory used is conflict resolution. The data sources in this study are primary and secondary data sources. The approach taken is a descriptive approach. By using interview data collection techniques and documentation. Based on the reseach results of the research in this paper, the authors conclude that: In the negotiation process carried out by negotiators in pasola cultural conflict resolution that; (a) negotiator has not separated personal feelings from the problem at hand, (b) negotiator has not focused on interests not positions (c) has found several options for solutions/decisions before making a final decision, and (d) has ensured results based on objective criteria. In the mediation carried out by the mediator in the resolution of the pasola cultural conflict that; (a) there are attempts by the mediator in facilitating the conflicting parties, (b) the mediator builds communication and opens up space in equalizing perceptions of the conflict that has occurred, (c) the mediator has offered a choice of solutions that are mutually satisfying between the conflicting parties, (d) it has not materialized permanent and sustainable peace agreement. Based on the conclusions above, the authors put forward several suggestions as follows; For pasola participants to really interpret the pasola cultural rituals as one of Marapu's legacies by carrying them out in full wisdom. For the community/spectators to witness the pasola ritual well and respect each other. For the government to facilitate pasola culture so that conflicts and chaos do not occur when the pasola ritual takes place. For Rato (traditional leader) to continue to preserve pasola culture as a cultural heritage from their ancestors.
