Abstract :
This research was aimed to measure the sound frequency value of the Gong musical instrument in the Manggarai area. Gong Manggarai musical instruments are usually made using simple tools with skills passed down from generation to generation. There is no method used to determine the good tone of the Gong Manggarai musical instrument. The craftsmen rely only on hearing and feeling and based on experience to match the pitch frequency. Each Gong produced has a difference in each alignment. So it is hoped that the results of this study can be used to determine the standardization of Gong musical instruments in the Manggarai area. This research used an experimental method and was carried out at the Manggarai Wela Pau Rana Studio in Kupang, NTT. This research begins with sound recording using Audacity Software, followed by sound processing using Wavepad Sound Editor Software which can display the spectrum and frequency value of the Gong sound. By doing normal blows on each gong, the frequency value for each gong is obtained. the average frequency (fo) and the uncertainty of error (?fo) obtained from research on Gong in the Manggarai area, namely Gong 1 (Nggong Oreng 1) = (571.9 ± 0.2) Hz, Gong 2 (Nggong Jer) = ( 428.1 ± 0.5) Hz, Gong 3 (Nggong Titong) = (491.6 ± 0.7) Hz, Gong 4 (Nggong Oreng 2) = (402.3 ± 0.8) Hz , Gong 5 (Nggong Cancak) = (756.8±0.6) Hz.
