Abstract :
Dalam menghasilkan sebuah berita, setiap media haruslah menjunjung tinggi nilai objektivitas dalam menyajikan sebuah informasi. Namun tanpa disadari, pemberitaan yang ada di media telah dipengaruhi oleh media itu sendiri yang dihasilkan oleh ideologi dan prinsip yang dimiliki. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat melalui nada pemberitaan suatu media dalam menyampaikan suatu pemberitaan. Pada 9 Januari 2015, Presiden Jokowi menetapkan Budi Gunawan sebagai calon tunggal Kapolri. Kebijakan tersebut ternyata menarik perhatian lembaga pemberantasan korupsi, yaitu KPK yang menilai Presiden keliru dalam memilih calon Kapolri karena Budi Gunawan dianggap sebagai pejabat pemilik rekening tak wajar. Isu ini menarik banyak perhatian publik dan juga media massa, diantaranya Koran Tempo dan harian Kompas. Dari berita-berita yang dihasilkan, Penulis menganalisis isi setiap artikel untuk mengetahui nada pemberitaannya, yaitu terdapat nada pemberitaan positif, negatif, dan netral. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nada pemberitaan dalam Koran Tempo cenderung negatif terhadap kebijakan Presiden Jokowi dalam penetapan Budi Gunawan sebagai calon tunggal Kapolri. Sama seperti pada harian Kompas yang juga memiliki nada pemberitaan cenderung negatif terhadap kebijakan Presiden Jokowi tersebut. Namun, perbandingan frekuensi penonjolan berita negatif dengan berita positif dan netral tidak jauh berbeda. Sebaliknya, perbandingan frekuensi penonjolan berita negatif dengan berita positif dan netral pada Koran Tempo sangat jauh berbeda. / In producing a news, the media must uphold the values of objectivity in presenting information. Unwittingly, however, reports published in the media have been influenced by the media itself, generated by certain ideologies and principles. This issue can be seen through the tone of report in which certain news are conveyed in the media. On January 9th, 2015, President Jokowi appointed Budi Gunawan as the sole candidate for the position of Head of Indonesian Republic Police (Kapolri). This decision succeeded in attracting the attention of the Corruption Eradication Commission (CEC), disagreeing with the President?s choice in electing Budi Gunawan due to his deviant banking account. This issue has also attracted much spotlight from the public and the mass media, including Tempo News and Daily Kompas. From the reported news, the Author has analyzed each article to determine whether the tone of the news report is positive, negative, or neutral. From the research, it is concluded that the tone of news report by Tempo News regarding the adjudication of Budi Gunawan has a negative tendency. The same conclusion also applies to the news tone of reports published by Daily Kompas. However, the frequency of a negative news report in Daily Kompas is nearly similar to those of positive and neutral tones. In contrast, the frequency of negative tones in the presentation of news regarding the issue by Tempo News is much higher.
