Abstract :
Sebagian besar kegiatan masyarakat Papua pasti melibatkan Noken. Noken Papua adalah salah satu budaya masyarakat Papua yang menggunakan material serat kulit kayu Pohon Huisa untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari mereka, material serat kulit kayu Pohon Huisa hanya dapat ditemukan di daerah Sentani Papua. Material ini mempunyai karakteristik yang kuat, lentur, dan ringan, tetapi belum dapat dimanfaatkan secara maksimal oleh masyarakat Papua dan belum banyak diketahui sehingga perlu dikaji. Penulis melihat adanya peluang besar untuk memperkenalkan budaya Noken Papua yang hampir punah yaitu dengan memanfaatkan karakteristik material serat kulit kayu Pohon Huisa melalui produk aksesoris rumah sehingga dapat diterima oleh masyarakat luar Papua. Dengan menggunakan teknik crochet, penulis membuat sebuah produk berupa modular agar pengguna dapat menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhannya. / Most Papuan community activities certainly involve Noken. Noken Papua is one of the cultures of the Papuan people who use Huisa bark fiber material to meet their daily needs, Huisa bark fiber material can only be found in the Sentani region of Papua. This material has strong, flexible and lightweight characteristics, but it cannot be fully utilized by the people of Papua and is not well known so it needs to be studied. The author sees a great opportunity to introduce the culture of Noken in Papua that is almost extinct by utilizing the characteristics of the Huisa tree bark fiber material through home accessories products so that it can be accepted by people outside Papua. By using the crochet technique, the author makes a modular product so that users can adjust to their needs.
