Abstract :
This research analyzed Heroism in The equalizer movie. The purpose of this study is (1) To identify the heroism symbols which contain in The Equalizer movie, (2) To find out the meaning of heroism symbol in The Equalizer movie. The scope of this research is the all movement, gesture, facial expression, costume, dialogue which representated heroism on ?The Equalizer? movie and the limitation of this research is the semiotic analysis and concept of heroism on ?The Equalizer? movie. The theory on Semiotic analysis was based on Floyd Merrell (1997) that has Peirce's First Triad: Representament ? Interpretant ? Object and the theory about the concept of heroism was based on Selwyn and Alice (2004) This research was qualitative and descriptive with analysis all movement, gesture, facial expression, costume, dialogue which representated heroism. The finding showed that, Robert mcCall as main character has some symbol which representated heroism that are encourage, fearless, competent, confident, have a high morality, empathy, compassion, presistance. The second, all of those symbol representated heroism make a hero should have the power to support the people around him to continue to believe in what should be good for them. This research hopes to give of thingking, and give significance to literature, literature as culture product.
