Adolescents at school, especially girls, show higher stress level than adults. Stress can cause eating behaviour changes. The changes of eating behavior in response to negative emotion from stress is called emotional eating. Adolescents who experience emotional eating, generally have higher intake of sweet and fatty foods but most of girls eat more sweets when they are stress. High sugar intake, especially added sugar which is found in almost all processed foods and beverages is one of risk factor of obesity. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and excessive added sugar consumption in female adolescents at SMAN 9 Bogor. The study used a cross-sectional design among 106 respondents determined by simple random sampling technique. The study was conducted in January 2021. Data collected using Perceived Stress Scale 10 (PSS-10) questionnaire and Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ). Relationship analysis performed using Rank Spearman test showed that the level of stress had a very weak correlation with excessive added sugar intake in female adolescents (rs = 0.163; N = 106; p = 0.048).
