Abstract :
Poor hygiene behavior during menstruation can cause various types of infections which if not handled properly will cause lower reproductive tract infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family roles and family functions with hygiene behavior during menstruation in adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 44 Jakarta. This type of research is an analytic study with a cross sectional approach. This study used a probability sampling method with a stratified random sampling technique with 188 female respondents using a family assessment device questionnaire according to the McMaster model theory, family roles and hygiene behavior. The results showed that the role of the family p-value < (0.05) so that there was a significant relationship between the role of the family and hygiene behavior during menstruation in adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 44 Jakarta. In the family function variable, the results obtained p-value < ) (0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between family function and hygiene behavior during menstruation in adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 44 Jakarta. Utilization of family roles and good family functions will affect hygiene behavior during menstruation in adolescents. The results of this study are expected to have an impact on adolescents to grow determination and increase motivation for hygiene behavior during menstruation by increasing family roles and family functions.
