Abstract :
At the age of teenagers, many have done smoking behavior, one of the factors that cause smoking behavior in adolescents is due to problems with parents and stress. This study aims to determine the relationship between the role of parents and stress levels with smoking behavior in adolescents at SMP Negeri 269 Jakarta. The research design used was quantitative with a cross-sectional observational research approach. The sample in this study amounted to 228 adolescents using cluster sampling technique. The results of Chi-Square analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the role of parents and smoking behavior (p-value = 0.002) and there was a significant relationship between stress levels and smoking behavior (p-value = 0.024). It is recommended for teenagers to avoid experimenting, avoiding friends who smoke, doing positive activities such as helping with housework, helping parents. And for parents to supervise the activities carried out by teenagers to avoid smoking behavior.
