Abstract :
General Cargo is one of merchant ship type that was built to carry cargo of general goods that have been packaged such as groceries and other agricultural/plantation products. The author conducted research for the design of the 8750 DWT General Cargo Vessel as a means of distributing the leading commodities of agricultural products in Central Java from Semarang to Makassar. This research was conducted to support the development of the Indonesian economy, particularly in agriculture and food security. In this study, the authors used the Comparative Method and the Trial and Error Method with 2 comparative vessels. The research was carried out with several stages of design, including; Determine The Principal Particular, Lines Plan Design, Hydrostatic and Bonjean Analyzes, General Arrangement, Tonnage Calculations, Load Capacity Plan, Construction and Strength Calculations, Stability and Vessel Motion Analysis, Leakage Diagrams, until Launching Plan according to IMO standards.
