Abstract :
Teenage age is very susceptible to the influence of the surrounding environment, a poor relationship between parents and adolescents will make it difficult for adolescents to avoid adverse effects from the environment, especially smoking behavior. The purpose of this research is to analyzed the relationship of affective function and family communication with smoking cessation in adolescents in Srengseng Sawah Urban Village. This research used quantitative research methods with cross sectional design. Total sample of this research is 296 adolescents with inclusion criteria of adolescent smokers within aged 10-24 years and unmarried who were not undergoing nicotine replacement therapy. Data collection is done by filling out the questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. The results showed that there was a relationship between the affective function of the family with smoking cessation in adolescents in Srengseng Sawah Urban Village with a p-value of 0,000 (p≤0.05) and there was a relationship between family communication with smoking cessation in adolescents in Srengseng Sawah Urban Village with a p-value 0.019 (p≤ 0.05). The results of this study were expected to have an impact on adolescents to foster determination and increase motivation to stop smoking by increasing positive interactions with parents and avoiding things that lead to the urge to smoke.
