Abstract :
Diarrhea is the second most common disease that causes death in children under 5 years of age. Diarrhea accompanied by poor nutritional status will affect treatment so that the length of stay is longer in the health facility. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the nutritional status and length of stay of children under five years with acute diarrhea. This research was an observational analysis with a cross-sectionally method, determined by a convenient sampling technique. The sample in this study were children who were treated in the children's inpatient room with acute diarrheal disease, which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria with a total of 55 respondents. Based on the results of the chi-square analysis indicates that there was no significant relationship between nutritional status and length of stay of children under five years with acute diarrhea in Pasar Minggu Hospital from January to December 2019. During diarrhea, in children with malnutrition, there will be a slowdown in the repair of enterocyte cells in the small intestinal mucosa compared with children with normal nutritional status.
