Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to know the grammatical error of the
students in part of speech and tense in recount text writing. The indicators
are: (a) error in sentence pattern, (b) error in tense, (c) error in pronoun, (d)
error in preposition, (e) error in punctuation. From these indicators, the
researcher would know the kinds of error that students made in their
writings.
This was a qualitative descriptive study. The population was class
X in SMA Muhammadiyah Rambah. The Samples were 50 students. The
researcher used total sampling to take the samples. The Instrument was
writing test. In conclusion, the result showed there was every student made
error in every indicator. And the most error that students made is in error
in tense.
