Abstract :
This research investigated about the s t udent s ? skill in wr it ing abst ract at
non English Depart ment St udent s of Facult y of Teacher Training and
Educat ion, universit y of pasir pengar aian. The purposes of this research was to
find out toanalyzethe students writing skill in writing abstract. This research was
descriptive qualitative design. The population of the research were the graduation
student from mathematic, physics and biology on 2016 to 2017. Sample of the research
was 88 abstract. The data was analyzed by 3 raters based on the abstract indicator. The
data was analyzed by three steps; identification, clasification and data analysis. The
result of this research showed that students skill in writing abstract was categorized in
three level. They were fair, excellent and poor level. Rater 1 analyzed that student?s skill
in writing abstract was categorized in fair level, rater 2 analyzed that it was categorized
in excellent level and rater 3 analyzed that it was categorized in poor level. From the
summary of 3 raters it could be conclude that students? skill in writing abstract was
categorized in fair level.
