Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of students in predicting information in the pictures in pre-reading activity at 8 grade students in SMPN 2 Rambah. This research used quantitative descriptive research. The sample of this research is 65 students, taken from students in 5 classes. The researcher used the instrumentation in multiple-choice test. The researcher used random sampling technique. Data obtained test results that have been given to students. To analyze the accumulated data, the researchers counted the students? score and calculated the percentage of students? ability. There are 6 topics for 60 questions, from the first topic it can be known that 21 students (32,3%) got fair grades. From the second topic it can be known that 37 students (56,9%) got very good grades. From the third topic it can be known that 38 students (58,5%) got very low grades. From the fourth topic it can be known that 48 students (73,8%) got very low grades. From the fifth topic it can be known that 36 students (55,4%) got very good grades. And the sixth topic it can be known that 49 students (75,4%) got very good grades. From the result it can be known that average from students? competence is fair ability (58,72%).
