Abstract :
The purpose of the research is to find out students? speaking skill at
eleventh grade SMAN2 Rambah Hilir and to describe students? difficulties
speaking skill at eleventh grade SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir. The kinds of this research
is descriptive qualitative only focused describing the data. The data get from
students? eleventh grade SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir. The researcher took the data
from the record, audio and speaking test of the students itself. The step of analyze
the data are the collecting the data, analyzing the data and displaying the result of
the analysis. In collecting the data, researcher used speaking test, interview and
questionnaire the record. In analyzing the data the researcher used the components
in speaking they are: pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluently and
comprehension. Indicator of difficulties they are: Inhibition, nothing to say, low
participants and use mother tongue. From the indicators can help the researcher to
find what are difficulties at eleventh grade at SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir.
The population of the research is at eleventh grade SMAN 2 Rambah
Hilir. The sample of this research is 23 students, female is 13 students and male is
9 students. Based on the result of analysis for answer the first formulation the
researcher found 17 students (73.4%) have the average score, 3 students (13%)
have the good score and 3 students (13%) have the fair score. For answer the
second of formulation of the research, the researcher found Students? difficulties
in speaking skill at eleventh grade SMAN 2 Rambah Hilir is he students difficult
to understand study English, the students difficult speak in English, the students
difficult in grammar, the students difficult to compare they are said, the students
never speak English in they are daily activities, the students difficult to pronoun
English word, the students not fluent in speak English, the students limited
vocabulary, find speaking English is difficult because of limited pronunciation
(78.2%), find it difficult to pronounce some words correctly for example sh, ch,
and thr (78.2%), find it difficult to speak English because of limited vocabulary
(75.6%), want to speak as fluently as a native speaker but find it difficult (91.3%),
do not to make mistake while speaking English in front of friend (73%).
