Abstract :
This Research was classroom action research (CAR), this research was conducted
to overcome the existing problem on the field as well as to described and also explained
whether the video could improve the students? speaking skill. In this research, researcher
was used the video in expressing to improve students? speaking skill. This research was
conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Rambah Hilir, there were 18 students in the seventh grade.
This research was conducted in two cycles, every cycle consisted of three meetings
with the sequenced activity : plan, action, obvservation and reflection. Researcher used
four instruments in collecting data, namely: test, observation checklist, field notes and
interview. Then, analyzed by qualitatively and quantitatively.
The finding of this research indicated that the implementation of video was
successful, there was an improvement in students? speaking skill by using video in
expressing personal identity. The finding showed an improvement in students? speaking
skill from the average of speaking test in cycle was 52,58% and cycle 2 was 71,66%. The score
improvement from first cycle achievement to the second cycle improved significantly,
that was 19,08% .
