Abstract :
Based on the researcher?s observation in SMAN 1 Bangun Purba, students? learning outcomes in writing descriptive text class XI SMAN 1 Bangun Purba, was still relatively low. The average was below the KKM score was 65, and it need to be improve. The purposed of this research was to know the effect using Mind Mapping technique toward the students writing skill in descriptive text at grade XI of SMAN 1 Bangun Purba. The research method used was Experimental; Post Test Only Design. The total sample was 40 students in class XI. The control class was 20 students and the experimental class was 20 students. The results of the study showed that there was that influence of students? skill in writing descriptive text after being thought by using Mind Mapping but not significant . The researcher used Mann-Whitney U test because data not normal, with criteria (sig) greater than (?) at a significant degree of 5%.
