Abstract :
The purpose of the research was to find out students? writing skill in greeting card at SMP Negeri 1 Bangun Purba. This research was descriptive quantitative focused on describing the data. The data got from students of eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Bangun Purba. The researcher took the data from the written test. The steps of analyze the data were collecting the data, analysing the data and displaying the result of the analysis. Based on the data analysis, 5 students (10,2%) had good score and 21 students (42,9%) had the fair score, and 23 students (46,9%) had poor score. In addition, the researcher found that some students had difficulties to write greeting card because some them had difficulties to comprehend the greeting card text, they couldnot arrange the sentences, they had a very few vocabulary and they couldnot master the grammar well, it means that some eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bangun Purba academic year 2018/2019 had difficulties to write greeting card text.
