Abstract :
The objectives of the studyentitled Children Exploitation in the Nineteenth Century British Society in Charles Dicken?s Oliver Twist are (1) to explain the kinds of exploitati on undergone by Oliver twist, (2) to describe the effects of exploitation on Oliver Twist?s personality. To formulate the analysis, the writer uses library research including the internet browsing to support the data. The main data is taken from novel of Oliver Twist. The teory of character, characterization, exploitation children exploitation, setting, 19th C British Society and Children exploitation in 19 C British society ue used to analyze the data. Furthermore, the approaches used in this research are psychological approach and sociological approach. In this research, the writer only focuses on the main character, namely Oliver Twist. Oliver Twist undergoes some kinds of exploitation such as sold as a slave, compelled to be a child servant, given bad room, clothing and food, treated violently, forced to be a pickpocket and involved in burglary. Oliver Twist is exploited because he is an innocent, weak, and orphan child, so the people around him exploit Oliver easily. The exploitations that are undergone by Oliver Twist give some effects on his personality. He becomes an unhappy, brave, and rebellious child. There are only tears and sadness in his childhood during his exploitation.
