Abstract :
This thesis entitled The Influence of Supernatural in the plot Development in Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol discusses two problems. Firstly, what is the supernatural? Secondly, how is the plot development?
Library research including internet browsing is used to form the conceptual models which are related to the topic. The models are included all of the words, phrases, clauses, sentences or paragraph. Moreover, sociological approach is used to analyze the data descriptively.
The supernatural of A Christmas Carol consist of the ghost and th spirits.The ghost is Marley's ghost who appears Scrooge after seven years his death. On the other hand, the spirits can be seen from the visiting of the three spirits. They are the first spirit, the second spirit, and the third spirit.
The plot development that is influenced by supernatural consist of rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion. The rising action can be seen from the way of Scrooge refses to celebrate a Christmas day. The climax happens when Scrooge meets the Marley ghost, the first spirit and the second spirit. The appearance of last spirit shows the falling action.
