Abstract :
An Analysis of Frequency Adverb in English is chosen as the title of this research. This research is aimed to solve the problems discussed. They are the structure of frequency adverb in English and the use of frequency adverbs in English. The researcher applies descriptive method to conduct this research. This method consists of some steps, they are collecting the data, classifying data, and analyzing data. While, in analyzing data this research applied two technique. They are expansion technique and repetition technique. Expansion technique is applied this research to describe the structure of frequency adverbs. While, repetition technique is to describe the used of frequency adverbs in English. The last step of this research, the writer makes a conclusion concerning to this research. The data of this research are taken from Time Magazine edition of January up to June 2006. They are in the sentences form which have frequency adverb in it. Meanwhile, the structure of frequency adverb in English that the researcher finds, are the structure of frequency adverb sometimes which consists of sometimes + S+P, S + sometime + P, and S + P + sometimes, the structure of frequency adverb always which consists of S + always + P, the structure of frequency adverb usually that consists of S + usally + P the structure of frequency adverb rarely which consists of S + rarely + P, the structure of frequency adverb often that consists of S + often + P, the structure of frequency adverb never that consists of S + never + P, and the structure of frequency adverb seldom that consists of S + seldom +P. Besides, the researcher explains about the use of adverb frequency in English. Those adverb frequency consists of sometimes, showing the something happens irregularly, always showing the activity that happens in a certain time, usually showing the activity that is done so often but not full in intensity, rarely showing the activity that happens not very frequently or so low in frequency, often showing something happens nearly much in frequency but it is not full, never is the activity that never happens, and seldom is something that happens so limited.
