Abstract :
The objectives of study entitled Gender Discrimination of Main Character in Laura J, Kriska's The Accidental Office Lady are (1) to describe the gender discrimination experienced by the main character,(2) to find out the cffort of the main browsing in collecting data. The conceptual models on gender discrimination are used to find the data in the novel. The data corpus in the forms of words,phrases, clauses, and discourses that refer to Gender Discrimination in Laura J. Krisk's The Accidental Office Lady published by Macmillan publishing Company in New York in 1969. Furthermore, psychologica and sociological approach is used to analyze the data descriptively. Kriska, a young American woman who has job at Honda Motor,experiences a lot of gender discrimination. The gender discrimination can be seen in having unequal opportunity in job, wearing uniform, serving a tea, doing outdoor group activity, having lunch in factory, not being called by the names and not showing emotion.There are some efforts done by Kriska in other that the women get equal right with the men, Firstly, Kriska builds career as flow at modemization.Secondly,she tries to change the uniform policy.Thirdly,in doing outdoor activity she and the other women tries to play basket ball together with the men worker. Fourthly, she makes critical thinking on traditional gender concept.
