Abstract :
Background: Personal Hygiene during menstruation is an action to maintain health
and cleanliness in the female area during menstruation (Laksmana, 2016). The
research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda based on a preliminary study in
the form of interviews from 15 young women who said that the problems that
occurred regarding personal hygiene were found that 13 young women had
experienced vaginal discharge accompanied by itching and the teenager also said that
the vaginal discharge was yellowish and had a pungent smell.
Objective: This study aims to describe the knowledge of adolescent girls about
personal hygiene during menstruation at SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda.
Methods: The design of this research is descriptive with a cross sectional approach.
The population of this study was students of SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda with a total
sample of 59 people.
Research Results: The results showed that the majority of young women's
knowledge of personal hygiene during menstruation was in the good category (63%),
then a small proportion of respondents had sufficient knowledge (36%) and less
(2%).
Conclusion: SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda students have knowledge about personal
hygiene during menstruation mostly in good category (63%)
