Abstract :
Figurative language is usually called a language that uses words or expression with different meanings of real meaning. This requires the reader use imagination to find out what the songwriter meant. This study analyze the figurative language contained in the song in NIKI?s album ?Nicole?. This main research aims to find the figurative language and the meaning of figurative language used NIKI?s song lyric. This study was qualitative research, which analyzed the types and meaning of figurative language found in NIKI?s album ?Nicole? used Kennedy and Gioia theory (2005). The result of the study was there were eight types of figurative language found in the study. They were, simile, metaphor, personification, irony, synecdoche, paradox, repetition, hyperbole. This study concludes that metaphor is the dominant type of figurative language in the album ?Nicole? by NIKI. Keywords: Figurative language, songs, lyrics
