Abstract :
Along with population growth, the demand for cucumbers in Indonesia is
increasing, but the availability of vegetables by farmers cannot meet this increase.
This study aims to determine the effect of top pruning and maintenance of the best
branches on the quality of cucumber seeds. This research was conducted on the
land of PT.Wira Agro Nusantara Sejahtera, Jl. Papaya, Pulosari Village, Kec.
Pare, Kab. Kediri November 2020 ? January 2021. The experimental design used
was a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. Each factor
consists of 3 levels which are repeated 3 times. The first factor is shoot pruning
which consists of pruning the shoots on the 15th segment (P1), pruning the shoots
on the 20th segment (P2), and pruning the shoots on the 25th segment (P3). (C1)
maintenance of 4 branches, (C2) maintenance of 6 branches, (C3) maintenance of
8 branches. Data were analyzed using the F test (ANOVA) and further test
(DMRT) with an error rate of 5%. The results showed that the shoot pruning
treatment did not have a significant effect on all observation parameters. The 4
branch maintenance treatment (C1) had a very significant effect on all
observation parameters, namely the parameters of fruit diameter (6.10 cm), fruit
length (22.15 cm), weight of 1000 grains (19.07 g), germination (95.89 %),
growth speed (23.55). %), and gave a significant effect on the parameters of fruit
weight (382.38 g). The interaction of shoot pruning and maintenance does not
have a significant effect on all observation parameters
