Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine the effect of ginger extract (Zingiber officinale Rosc) in drinking water on leukocyte count and leukocyte differential. This research was conducted in Bagorejo village, Gumukmas district, Jember using 100 KUB chickens aged 21 days. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications (5 birds in each replication). Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If the results were significantly different (P<0.05), then continued with Duncan's Multiple Distance Test (DMRT). The treatments given were ginger extract, P0 (control), P1 (ginger extract 0.5%), P2 (ginger extract 1%), and P3 (ginger extract 1.5%). The parameters measured were leukocytes and differential leukocytes (heterophiles, lymphocytes, and monocytes). The results of analysis of variance showed that the administration of ginger extract with different concentrations had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the leukocyte count and leukocyte differential. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the administration of ginger extract up to 1.5% in drinking water did not significantly affect the leukocyte count and leukocyte differential in KUB chickens.
